Iraq is likely to become
a safer and convenient place for foreign investments
after the second parliamentary elections, conducted
on December 15 of last year. This political progress
comes after suffering for many years
from mismanagement and
corruption. The newly elected government
with a four-year horizon and enough time for
stabilized political, economic and planning
atmosphere, is expected to meet the pressing
economic needs of the country with $56 Billion for
reconstruction until the end of 2007, long term
plans, more liberalized and business-friendly trade
and economic policies and strategies and sets out
strategic priorities for Iraq's reconstruction and
development. It appears that the
basic economic situation in Iraq is better today,
and hopefully,
there will be good business environment and
investment opportunities for all countries in the
region and around the world. With the new economic
policies Iraq will be able to take
advantage of duty-free tariff treatment to specified
products from developing countries and territories.
GIX is the first trade
show ever that will be organized by the Iraqi
Government outside Iraq; it is housing some of the
leading companies in different sectors, paving the
road towards coordination and huge investments. It
is a milestone in Iraq's progress towards new
business opportunities.
It is organized by the
Iraqi Ministry of Trade – State Company for Iraqi
Fairs, and I-vision for Event & Media.
